DNA RUBBER COMPOUND
Our proprietary 60 durometer rubber compound offers the ideal mix of rolling efficiency and traction for XC and trail riding applications. DNA rubber is renowned for being versatile and long lasting.
SUPER TRACK DNA RUBBER COMPOUND
This 50a durometer rubber compound provides planted-to-the-ground traction. Super Track DNA boosts confidence and improves handling in steep, loose conditions.
DUAL DNA RUBBER COMPOUND
Dual DNA is the perfect mix of efficiency, traction and durability. The centerline tread features a firmer rubber compound that boasts faster rolling and increased durability, while the side knobs are composed of softer, slower-rebounding rubber that improves control and grip.
45a durometer, glue-like conforming rubber covers a supportive 60 durometer base creating uncanny traction with tuned rebound characteristics designed to take harsh hits yet not fumble for footing.
Found in WTB and Freedom’s pavement tires, this compound is specifically formulated to maximize the lifespan of tires. Sick of wearing out tires yet don’t care to ride on a pair of Crayons? Try our Distance Compound for a harmonious pairing of longevity and traction.
Inner Peace is a teardrop shaped strip of rubber integrated into the tire sidewall that protects the casing from damage, reduces sidewall flex and dramatically reduces pinch flats. This feature is exclusively available on WTB’s AM TCS series tires.
Tear down the trail rather than your tire. Silver Lining is a woven, 32x32 coarse nylon protection that stretches from bead to tread in the sidewalls of Team Issue tires. Whoever said sticks and stones may break my bones obviously hadn’t ridden with Silver Lining.
TCS (TUBELESS COMPATIBLE SYSTEM)
Tubeless Compatible System: Standards-driven system designed around tubeless bead shapes and hooks to create repeated sealant-based consistency between tire and rim.
A robust and substantial casing provides the strength needed for our wire bead tires to last. A high ratio of rubber to thread protects against trail threats and urban unpleasantries. Found in all Comp level tires.
A supple, gram-conscious carcass designed to be compliant and conform to trail objects while still providing a happy balance of low rotational weight and rugged reliability.
ALL MOUNTAIN TCS CASING
Our lightweight casing reinforced with Inner Peace, a rubber insert protecting the bead region of the carcass and extending up the sidewall to prevent abrasion and damage when ridden aggressively.
Our rugged All Mountain casing is taken one step further with the addition of a cut-resistant woven nylon layer stretching from bead to tread on both sides of the tire. These sidewalls are impenetrable, keep the cut rocks and steep slopes coming!
Folding beads are lighter than conventional steel beads and easier to install. Steel beads are more economical and better suited for aggressive, trail riding applications.
Sipes are small incisions on a tire’s tread. Siping a knob creates more working edges, which boosts traction in virtually any condition. Because WTB’s high-end mountain bike tires feature shallow sipes, the knobs stay firm under heavy loads and hard braking.
WTB recommends that tire pressure be checked before each ride. The acceptable pressure range for tubed mountain bike tires is 35- to 65-psi (2.4- to 4.5-bar). Road tires must be inflated to 100 to 130-psi (7- to 9-bar). TCS tires must be inflated between 30 and 50 psi (2- to 3.5-bar). City/Trekking/Hybrid tires must be inflated between 50- and 80-psi (3.5- to 5.5-bar). Tire pressure outside of these guidelines can result in a loss of control or, at the very least, poor performance.
TPI stands for threads per inch. This number refers to the thread count in a tire’s casing. A lower TPI indicates that thicker threads are woven into the casing, therefore making it more durable; a higher TPI indicates that thinner threads are used, therefore making the casing lighter and more pliable. WTB’s 60 TPI Race and TCS tires offer supple, shock absorption qualities while remaining resistant to cuts and tears.
